How it works
- You tell us what you need. The kind of practitioner, what you need help with, your area, and how you'll pay. It takes about two minutes.
- We pass it on. We send your request to clinics and checked practitioners who've told us they do home visits in your area, usually within one business day.
- They contact you to book. The clinic or practitioner arranges the visit, the price and any direct billing to your insurer with you directly. Find Your Physio doesn't charge you anything.
Request a home visit
Only the clinics and practitioners we pass your request to will see these details. Please don't include detailed medical information; the practitioner will ask about that when they call you.
Need nursing care at home? If the person is bedridden or needs a nurse, call AllWellCare at 587-255-9355 (587-ALL-WELL). They can arrange home nursing visits.
Join the home-visit list
Physiotherapists, massage therapists and kinesiologists who see patients at home can join for free. Once we've checked your registration and insurance, we'll pass you requests from patients in the areas you cover. You contact them, book, and bill them yourself. Want locum contracts too? Tick both on the same form.
Before you start: billing, receipts and insurance
If you bill through a clinic
If you see home-visit patients as part of a clinic you work with, the clinic books, invoices and direct bills as usual. You don't need your own billing set up. Just make sure the clinic is happy for you to see its patients at home.
If you bill on your own
- Register with insurers as a provider. Most extended health insurers need you registered, with your own practice address and payment details, before you can direct bill them. Many are reached through TELUS eClaims (for example Canada Life, Manulife and iA). Others use their own portals, such as Alberta Blue Cross, Sun Life and Medavie Blue Cross, or Provider Connect (for example Green Shield). Registration can take from a few days to a few weeks, so start early.
- Invoices and receipts. Practice software such as Jane can book appointments, keep your charting, create invoices and receipts, and submit claims to many insurers. Every receipt should show your name, profession, registration or membership number, the date, the service and the fee. Until you're registered with an insurer, patients can pay you and submit the receipt themselves.
Insurance and safety
- Check your liability insurance covers home visits. Some policies only cover care at a clinic. Ask your insurer or association to confirm in writing.
- Plan for safety. Let someone know where you're going and when you expect to finish, and keep your charting to the same standard as in a clinic.
